HOPE FOR EPILEPSY

HOPE for Epilepsy is a small, award-winning charity based in London, dedicated to supporting and connecting children and families affected by epilepsy. This project is deeply personal to me - our son has epilepsy and the charity has been an essential source of support, helping us connect with other families and medical professionals.

When we first discovered HOPE for Epilepsy, its digital presence was limited. The website felt outdated, and social media activity was minimal. I saw an opportunity to help amplify their impact and better reflect the incredible work they do. I offered my services pro bono and led a full brand refresh, placing children firmly at the heart of the identity. The project included new brand assets, a redesigned website, social media setup, exhibition materials, flyers, annual and funding reports and stationery.

LOGO & COLOUR PALETTE

The original logo featured a dark purple jigsaw a symbol strongly associated with epilepsy but it felt dated and lacked warmth. The broader visual identity relied heavily on dark purples and low-quality imagery.

I evolved the logo by softening its form and introducing a more open, friendly typeface. The aim was to retain the recognisable core idea while making it more approachable and child-focused.

Alongside this, I developed a brighter, more playful colour palette to bring energy and visibility to the brand. Updated photography plays a key role, showcasing real moments and the positive impact of the charity’s work.

WEBSITE

I audited the existing site and restructured it to improve clarity, navigation, and usability.

The new website was designed and written from the ground up, aligning fully with the refreshed brand identity. The result is a more engaging, accessible experience that better serves families and communicates the charity’s mission.

PUBLICATIONS

Leaflets, annual reports and funding reports were redesigned to improve readability and visual impact, ensuring the charity’s work and achievements are communicated effectively to stakeholders and supporters.

EXHIBITION MATERIALS

I designed a suite of exhibition assets, including roller banners, business cards and leaflets, to support the charity’s presence at events and outreach activities. These materials were created to be clear, welcoming, and visually consistent with the new identity

SOCIAL MEDIA

I established the charity’s presence across LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.

This included setting up accounts, creating core visual templates, and producing initial content. Notably, I developed creative for key announcements, including posts celebrating the charity receiving the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
